Brunswick C 1:8 SATTC

Brunswick C were the latest side to make the trip south to face the unbeaten South Ayrshire division 2 outfit.

Alan Thomson opened his account for the season with a convincing win over Brian to make it 2-0 after Jago got the home side off to a winning start with victory over Moira. The Brunswick side, who found themselves at the wrong end of the table going into the match, rallied when Salim took Pierre to a tense 5th set before succumbing 11-4. Alan and Jago then sealed victory with wins over Moira and Salim before Pierre found himself in another 5-setter, this time with the much improved Brian. Pierre came through that one also, winning the 5th 11-7 but Brunswick didn't have to wait long to get their first point of the night when Salim gave a strong performance against Alan, winning in 3 sets. Pierre and Jago went on to secure their third wins and an 8-1 victory for South Ayrshire. The result leaves the Ayr side just a point off the top of the division. Div 2 League Table

Garnethill 3:6 SATTC 6

In a rescheduled match Pierre, Jago and Gary travelled up to the Multi Cultural Centre and managed a 6:3 victory over Pat, Vincent and Kevin.

The pivotal match was a 5 setter between Pierre and Pat. Pierre managed to find an answer to Pat's strong serve in the second game and came through a tough game winning 3:2. Pierre's game was too strong for Vincent and Kevin. Jago managed to beat both Vincent and Kevin, but found Pat in great form in the final tie of the night. Gary failed to win any games against Pat and Vincent, but raised his game to beat Kevin in 5.

D2 Team Keeps to Winning Ways against the Students

The score of 9-0 does not describe what was a highly competitive first home match of the season.

Jago winning his first match
Jago Brown got SATTC off to a great start beating Bart Pastusiak, the students' new Polish find, 3-1. Bart increasing in confidence ran Jago close in the crucial 4th end and it looked as though it would go to a 5th, however Jago steadied the ship to seal the 1st point. Pierre-Benoît Hériaud followed this with a solid 3-1 over Henry Thornton then went on to win his remaining games without dropping a set. Paul Morris's defensive game was too much for Jasper Guo (3-0) with Bart and Henry managing to win one end each against the vet. Jago dispatched Jasper 3-0 then in the final game of the match sealed the whitewash in a tense 5 setter against an improving Henry. More photos.
